Fashion Profile: Rachel Gilbert

Rachel Gilbert is one of my favourite Australian designers and I was so fortunate to meet her.  Rachel's collections are exquisite, elegant and glamorous, and personally I couldn't ask for more from a collection!  Straight out of fashion college she worked at Lisa Ho, before she was recruited to work as Head designer at Nicky Hilton's label Chick in the US!  When she returned to Australia, Rachel worked at Morrissey and then began on her very own line.  In 2010 Rachel Gilbert featured her first standalone collection at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.   Rachel's pieces are worn by celebrities both locally and internationally, including my personal favourite, Taylor Swift.  And where can you purchase Rachel Gilbert's collections?  Online from her website as well as online fashion sites Net-A-Porter and Frockshop.  Her collection is also available at various boutiques throughout Australia.  Rachel Gilbert is an absolutely amazing designer and definitely one to watch! Thought I'd featured her new High Summer 2010 which is now available as well as her Spring 2010 collection featured at Rosemount Fashion Week. What's the best thing about Rachel Gilbert... The fact that she uses lilac!!  Yes I'll be purchasing from both these collections!

Freshwater Blue... The new Laguna Beach?

I admit I love my reality TV... The Rachel Zoe Project, Project Runway, Australia's Next Top Model, The Hills, The City, 8th and Ocean and the list continues!  So when I heard that Australia was making their very own version of Laguna Beach/Newport Harbour, addiction was clearly inevitable!  For those who don't know, Laguna Beach is where it all began.. for Lauren Conrad, that is.  An MTV reality TV show based around the lives of those living at Laguna Beach.  We were introduced to memorable characters, like LC, Stephen, Kristen, Jason, Kendra and Cameron.  But after three seasons the show moved up the shore to Newport Harbour.  This only lasted a season as followers were drawn to The Hills and The City.  And so now, it's all about MTV's Freshwater Blue.  Freshwater is located in the Northern Beaches of Sydney and the show is based around the concept of Laguna Beach, except unlike Laguna Beach, this crew have just finished high school. The show aired a few days ago and I'm already intrigued.  As for the cast?  I'm all about team Nicola, she's the Lauren Conrad of the show and the show is somewhat based around her.  Nicola's best friend is Luke and he is a total sweetheart.  Nicola's other friends include, Nikki 'The life and soul of the party', Joey 'The one with her heart on her sleeve' and Lize.. Lize is dating Rob and they are the couple of the show, but apparently they are always getting together and breaking up.  And then there's Monique, the self proclaimed virgin waiting for Mr Right.  She's friends with Annika... Nicola's nightmare.. she's all about DRAMA!  Lastly, there's Jesse, he is the wild party animal.  So if you aren't already addicted, tune in next week as the crew head up to the Gold Coast for Schoolies, where you know drama is inevitable!

Olivia and Johannes for Elle Germany

Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebl, are taking over the fashion world one fashion shoot at a time, clearly.  This gorgeous, dynamic duo have done it again!  The couple are featured in an elegant editorial for Elle Germany December 2010.  I can't help but blog about them, after all they are the most fashionable couple!  But I got a feeling there's a lot more to come from them.  Olivia is now filming a reality tv show which according to Olivia the show "is based around my life in fashion and being creative."

As the new season of Gossip Girl is set to air in Australia shortly, I thought it was time to embrace a little of the Upper East Side.  Every Blair Waldorf has their inner 'wild' side, evident by Leighton Meester's recent editorial in Marie Claire UK's December 2010 issue. Here, Leighton Meester embraces her inner 'Wild Child', for a gorgeous, edgy, yet cute hair and beauty editorial.   

Rachel Zoe is pregnant!!

Rachel Zoe, my queen of fashion, confirmed just days ago via Twitter, that she and her husband Rodger, are expecting their first child!  When questions of pregnancy arose on her latest season of The Rachel Zoe Project, her ever so fashionable crew claimed 'she's too busy giving birth to Chanel dresses!'  But now that she's expecting, and the question remains, what will the most fashionable baby be wearing?  A dash of Dior, Chanel, Marc Jacobs or Burberry perhaps?  I'm curious to see how a pregnant Rachel will now dress, accentuating the baby bump or opting for more free flowy dresses?  Not only did Rachel Zoe announce her pregnancy this week, but she also received a 'Women of Achievement Award for Business Innovation'.   All I can say is congratulations Rachel Zoe!!  Be sure to watch the new season of The Rachel Zoe Project now airing in Australia and yes if you didn't already know, it is in fact Brad's last season.

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2010

It's that time of the year again.. The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show!  This has to be my favourite event on the fashion calendar and every year I wait in anticipation to see what little secret 'Victoria' has in store.  This year was no exception of course!  The event was held in New York with an array of fashion's elite, including performances by Katy Perry and Akon.  This year, as you would have known, Heidi Klum was missing as she decided to sadly hang up her wings.  Miranda Kerr was also absent because she is of course pregnant and I was sad to not see Abbey Lee Kershaw!  However, this year's event included models Alessandra Ambrosio , Adriana Lima (who wore the $2million Fantasy Bra) and my favourites, Constance Jablonski, Lily Donaldson and Jessica Stam!  With those models alone, you knew it was going to be a good show!  The show included loads of colour, sparkles and bubbles.  There was a sport theme, a little animal/dark theme, the VS Pink and of course your typical VS pieces with the signature wings.  Could you ask for anything more?!  Be sure to check it out when it airs in America at the end of the month and hopefully not long after for Australia.  Here's a little sneak peek!

Bonds Campaign: Amanda and Kelsey

Australia's very own top models, Amanda Ware and Kelsey Martinovich are taking over the fashion world, one step at a time.  After making an impression in New York, the girls began shooting for the Summer Bonds 2010 'HipStars' Campaign and I think they both look amazing!  The campaign is cute, colourful and fun!  Thought I'd include a few of the behind the scenes images too.

Whilst I'm on the topic of Amanda and Kelsey, thought I'd also feature an image from Alex Perry's new Spring/Summer 2010 Lookbook.  Here the girls both look stunning, it definitely is one of my favourite pictures! I can't wait to see what the girls have next in store.

Mango Fall 2010 Campaign: Olivia Palmero and Johannes Huebl

One of my favourite fashion couples, socialite Olivia Palermo and her model boyfriend Johannes Huebl are the new faces of international chain 'Mango'.  The couple feature in the new Fall 2010 campaign and together they look absolutely amazing! I love Olivia's sophisticated and stylish elegance, she looks stunning... And Johannes, well he looks amazing in everything and I don't think you get much better 'arm-candy' than him!  Clearly the end of MTV's The City hasn't affected Olivia's fashion and social prospects!  Here is a look at the oh so gorgeous campaign.
