Style Porfolio Sneak Peek

I thought I'd give you a sneak peek at one of the pieces I've been preparing for my style portfolio as part of Nokia and Elle's Search for the Next Style Correspondent.  The final round for the competition closes next week, so there is still time to vote for me, all you have to do is press the 'like' button to the right.  I will be posting the link to my portfolio hopefully by the end of the week.  In meantime I'm sharing a clip I created featuring my Rosemount Australian Fashion Week 2011 experience.  Not all the shows I attended have been featured, it depended on the quality of the capture. 

        

RAFW 2011 wrap up!

After two weeks of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week posts, I've finally come to the end.. Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, was exciting and unforgettable and I was so fortunate to witness such exquisite collections by some of my favourite designers. I really wanted to report for every designer who invited me to their show because I appreciated every invite! Last year I volunteered and this year I was a guest.. words cannot explain how amazing that was! I've been asked by so many people as to what my favourite parts of fashion week were...The moment I walked into the Carla Zampatti show and my seat was reserved with my name and The Lilac Mannequin written on it, it was so surreal...meeting such amazing people, editors, bloggers, photographers and guests...hanging out at the HP and Intel Media Bar...the never ending goodie bags (with a supply of beauty products, clothing, lookbooks, accessories and vouchers!)...And of course all the amazing shows!  Yes it was exhausting running from show to show and standing in lines (with heels), but I honestly can't complain, it was one of the most amazing experiences.  I cannot wait till next year!  

Whilst I wasn't in attendance at some of the shows I would've loved to attend (limited capacity), I thought I'd still share a few of my favourite pieces from the collections.

Group Shows RAFW 2011

During Rosemount Australian Fashion Week I attended all three Ready to Wear group shows as well as the Swim and Resort wear group show.  Now that I've finished all my individual show recaps thought I'd share a few of my favourite shots (taken by me) of all the group shows.  And as for the group shows..expect the unexpected!  Guanabana sent a snake down the runway, whilst Terri Donna sent a cute puppy down the runway!

Lisa Maree RAFW 2011 - Day 5

After receiving the press release for Lisa Maree's first individual show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, I was really excited!  It was my last show for fashion week and Lisa definitely ensured my week went out with a bang!  I arrived at the OPT just as the show was about to start (I was so glad I didn't miss it!)  The OPT had been transformed into a jungle with vines hanging on the runway and leafy pot plants.. Lisa Maree's Spring/Summer 2011/12 'Under My Skin' show was unforgettable!  Where to begin?  Perhaps with New York dance duo 'House of Ninja' and their 'Voguing'.  I'm a huge America's Next Top Model fan, and the fact that they were a part of the show was very exciting! Australia's Next Top Model winner Amanda Ware complemented the duo and opened the show in a full piece 'skin like' swimsuit with an animal prop attached to her arm. I love the use of the animal props..snakes wrapped around models' legs, crows on their heads, and feathered bird wings attached to them.  A show stopper was the model strutting the runway holding leashes with two male models attached.  The collection included, Lisa Maree's signatory crochet swimwear, lycra design swimwear and printed resort wear.  The show was vibrant, fun and kept us in suspense!  It was as though the OPT came alive..literally!  Loved the goodie bag!

Kooey RAFW 2011 - Day 4

Day 4 of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week saw the first of my swimwear shows, Kooey.  Kooey's Spring/Summer 2011/12 collection "Desert Dreaming and Sunset" was inspired by the land with particular focus on the Australian Central Desert in the Northern Territory.... The "wilderness of vast valleys, red sand dunes and huge sheer rock walls, cool picturesque waterholes and sandy creek beds of soft white sand."  The prints were designed by artist Anne Hanning who drew inspiration from the rich and vibrant colour palette of the land and layers of the desert.. dashes of pink, yellow, red, purple and orange.  The collection includes one-piece and separate swimwear, kaftans and cover-ups.  I loved the short blonde, red and black wigs and the models posing at three different areas of the runway!
