The year that was 2010

And so it is the end of fashion and celebrities for 2010....And what a year it has been!  Personally, my highlight, was being a part of my very first Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.  This included meeting an array of fashion's elite, that I could only dream of meeting!  I will never forget Romance was Born's magical jungle show and Dion Lee's exquisite, elegant show at the Opera House!  Dion Lee was definitely a stand out in Australian Fashion this year.
The year in fashion started off on a low note as we farewelled iconic fashion legend Alexander McQueen.  Things then took a weird turn, yes Lady Gaga challenged 'fashion' and accepted her VMA wearing a meat outfit, which included shoes and a headpiece.  Anna Wintour shocked everyone when she placed Halle Berry on the cover of the September Issue of Vogue, as this was the first African American on this issue since 1989.  Sydney participated in their very first Fashion's Night Out, which was followed by their opening of the new Westfield Sydney.  Whitney Port visited Australia during L'oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival and the nation stopped when Opera came.  We celebrated the weddings of Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie, Joel Madden and Nicole Richie, Katy Perry and Russell Brand and of course Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom.. Not forgetting that Miranda Kerr announced she was pregnant, as well as fashion queen Rachel Zoe!  Heidi Klum hung up her Victoria's Secret wings and Sarah Murdoch announced Kelsey as the winner of Australia's Next Top Model instead of Amanda.  Taylor Swift took over world and we bid farewell to 'The Hills'.  And as for reality tv?  Let's just say it was taken to a whole new level, where we all learnt the meaning of 'GTL'..  Kim Kardashian got named the highest paid reality tv star earning over $6million in 2010, followed by Lauren Conrad, the Kardashian sisters, Audrina Patridge, Bethenny Frankel, Kendra Wilkinson and Pauly D and Mike from Jersey Shore.  Did I miss anything?  Possibly the fact that we all witnessed some of the most amazing collection this year on a local and international front!  I can't wait to see the world of fashion and celebrities for 2011.

MTV Movie Awards 2010

It's that time of the year again, the MTV Movie Awards.  I'm a huge MTV fan, so I love watching these awards.  I love the fact that they are so informal, crazy and that you should expect the unexpected!  Sandra kissing Scarlett, Katy and her blue hair, Tom's new ulter ego and a sneak peek at the new Jersey Shore...... And who took home the most awards of the night?  Twilight of course, but we all knew that!
But the most important part... The fashion!  Here are a few of my favourites and well the ones I couldn't help but just post!
Whitney Port
Fashionista Whitney in Yiagal Azrouel... I love this dress. I think it looks amazing on her. So different, but so fashion forward. I don't think Whitney can ever get it wrong!
Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron
They are honestly the cutest couple! Vanessa looked adorable in her feminine Jenny Packman dress and Deigo Dolcini pumps. And well Zac Efron is one of my favourities and on the fashion front he definitely has not disappointed!
The Crew from Jersey Shore

And they did not disappoint!  Nicole 'Snooki', Jenny 'JWOWW', Angelina, Sammi, Mike 'The Situation', Pauly D, Ronnie and Vinny came out in true Guido and Guidette style and pretty much took over the red carpet!  Mike flaunting 'the Situation', JWOWW 'gracing' the red carpet in a pink dress by her new line Filthy Couture, whilst Snooki opted to cut her Dolce and Gabbana dress.. Oh my!  I can't help but laugh and love them, they have truly created their own culture!  And I have to ask, how does Pauly D get his hair like that?
The Girls from The Hills
What would the MTV awards be without the girls from the Hills!...Audrina Patridge sparkled on the red carpet, Lo Bosworth opted for a more glamorous image, whilst  Stephanie Pratt added a dash of vibrant colour.  I actually like all three outfits!
Lindsay Lohan
Every time I see this outfit, I change my opinion of it.  Lindsay opted for a sparkly jumpsuit by Pamela Roland, which definitely left a lasting impression.. good or bad!
Eva Mendes
Eva Mendes in Stella McCartney.. I love this complete look, the dress, shoes and accessories.  One of my favourite looks and I wonder if Rachel Zoe had anything to do with it?!
Kristen Stewart
I always know to expect something different when it comes to Kristen Stewart.  This year she's dressed in Dolce and Gabbana and whilst I don't really have an opinion on the dress, it does suit her and her image.  Love the shoes though!
Lucy Hale
I love this number she is wearing. It's like a classic little black dress, with unexpected, yet fashionable twist. I love it!
Christina Aguilera
As one of the performers of the night, Christina left a lasting impression.. If not for her performance, then definitely when it came to her Versace Atelier dress.  I have no idea how to explain it!..Fringe, chains, short, long..  I mean she looked amazing as she always does, but I still have conflicting views regarding the dress.
Victoria Justice
This is one of my favourites.  I love that it's so fashion forward and also love how she has contrasted the hot pink dress with the nude pumps and clutch.  She looks amazing.
Jessica Biel
This had to be my favourite number, so classic, fashionable, stylish, feminine, and elegant.  Jessica's complete outfit was straight from the Giambattistu Valli collection.  I think she looks gorgeous, from the fashion forward fringe skirt, to the elegant top, the amazing heels and the pretty little pink bow belt!

Magical Makeovers

It’s been a while, I feel like I’ve neglected my fellow Fashionistas! After a long week of study, it’s back to the wonderful world of fashion and just in time for the countdown to Rosemount Fashion Week! Just less than two weeks away, can you feel the fashion in the air? I know, l love fashion!
As I have a keen interest in styling, editorial and fashion journalism it’s important that I’m constantly fashion forward, trend forecasting, drawing from unique inspiration and pretty much standing out from the crowd. However, we’re told that the best way to trend forecast is look around you and take it to the streets. Except sometimes, I think I’d rather stick to the runways… Yes, I’m talking about, well, those fashion don’ts! I think most people have the potential and since I love styling, visualising a makeover to create a classic glamour, is part of the norm. I love watching shows like Trinny and Sussanah and Style Her Famous! Makeovers can change people’s lives. I’m a believer that a dash of designer, a sprinkle of etiquette, a little blush, a touch of class and a pinch of pretty and well just embracing natural beauty.. Can transform anyone and create a magical makeover!
When I think of makeovers, I think of the girls from MTV’s Jersey Shore. For those of you that don’t know, Jersey Shore is America’s latest TV show phenomenon. It’s been described as the “Real World on steroids”. The show follows the lives of the Italian Americans who describe themselves as Guidos and Guidettes, put together to live in a house in the Jersey Shore. Think, fake tans, sleeked hair, rooftop hot tubs, trashy nightclubs, fist pumping, drama and oh so mini clothing. A major call for a dramatic makeover. Yes, I’m talking about Jersey Shores very own Snooki, JWoww and Sammi. Harper’s Bazaar, along with socialite Tinsley Mortimer, staged an intervention and sent the girls to charm school. As well as being schooled in etiquette they were given complete makeovers. It seemed as though they had a major “situation” on their hands.

I think they did an amazing job and made these girls look a million dollars! Except you can take the girl out of the Jersey Shore, but you can’t take the Jersey Shore out of the girl. That’s right after their complete fashion makeovers and a crash course in etiquette, they went right back to where they started!
