Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for Net-a-Porter's The Edit

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are the epitome of style....  So who better to feature in Net-a-Porter's weekly magazine, The Edit?  The girls talk all things fashion, The Row and yes, Full House!
On The Row: Ashley spoke about The Row and it's 'Anonymity'.  The girls believed there was a space in the market, a lack in luxurious and contemporary basics. The Row's pieces complement that special designer piece. It's that 'anonymous' piece, with great fabric and fit.
On Full House: The girls spent six hours, three times a week in fittings for 12 outfits.  Their outfits included Chanel and Marc Jacobs made to fit.  They designed their own clothes because they were petite.  They became obsessed with fit which ultimately became their profession influencing The Row's pieces.

It's Mary-Kate and Ashley!

When I think back to my very first fashion inspiration, I think.. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.  As a young girl I grew up idolising and wanting to dress exactly like the Olsen twins.  Mary-Kate and Ashley were my fashion icons and even today, I still love drawing style inspiration from them.  From a very young age, the girls were the cutest actresses and before long they managed to create the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Empire 'Dulstar'.  These days the girls are not only trendsetters, but are highly respected in the fashion world as designers and as fashion's elite.  The girls have two successful labels including 'The Row' and 'Elizabeth and James.'  However, lately in the media, it's become a Mary-Kate and Ashley phenomenon!
Where to start?... well perhaps that Mary-Kate and Ashley have recently been nominated for a CFDA award for Womenswear Emerging Designer for their amazing label 'The Row'.   This was then followed with a feature and photo shoot in the US Vogue April 2011 issue.  Then the girls launched their new 70s inspired denim line 'Textile Elizabeth and James' with a star studded launch party.  Some of the guests included Nicole Richie, Brad Goreski and Emma Roberts.  Of course that's not all... The girls then announced the launch of StyleMint.com which is an online, interactive, shopping experience. Customers will be able to become members and answer questions about their personal style and fashion.  Members will then be sent recommendations for garments according to their fashion preferences.  It's like being styled by the Olsen twins!  The girls will design the clothing for the website and the first collection will be a T-shirt range.  As well as this, the website will feature the girls creating the collections on video.  But just when you thought the girls had done it all, according to Harper's Bazaar Australia, the girls will be launching 'The Row' collection in Australia!!  The clothing will be sold in Myer from August.  At this stage it is uncertain whether the girls will personally launch the range in Australia, but I hope they do!

Trend: Faux Fur and Animal Print

"I think every woman should have a piece of leopard, but not every woman will wear leopard. You have to have courage to wear leopard." Rachel Zoe  Are you ready to channel your inner Rachel Zoe?  Rachel's signatory leopard print and faux fur classics seem to have created a little fashion frenzy!  Left, right and centre.. on the runway, front row, street fashion and of course all your favourite celebrities are embracing this 1970's revolutionary trend.  The leopard and faux fur trend has been slowly sneaking into the fashion world, however, now it's been taken to a whole new level!  We're only half way through fashion week and the faux fur and leopard trend has completely taken over, not only on the runway, but also front row.  And How to wear this trend?
The minimalistic approach
A little unsure about how the trend will work for you?  Try opting for an accessory like a bag, shoes or scarf.

This possibly the most common way to were fur, because it's versatile.

The Leopard and Fur Jacket/Coat
Besides keeping you warm during the winter, the faux fur and leopard jacket are truely a statement piece essential.

The Fur/Leopard 'Professional'
Feeling a little more game?  Try experimenting with fur and leopard.  Purhaps a leopard dress?  Or mixing and matching both leopard and fur?  Or for something a little different matching fur with a maxi dress, yes a huge trend at Fashion Week!

The CFDA Awards

This week the annual CFDA Awards were held.  These are the awards of the fashion industry.  Designers, models, celebrities, fashion elite, were all out in full force for a major fashion show down!  A few big winners of this year included:
Womenswear Designer of the Year - Marc Jacobs
Menswear Designer of the Year - Rag and Bone
Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award - Michael Kors
Accessory Designer of the Year - Alexis Bittar
International Award - Christopher Bailey for Burberry
There was also a very special tribute to Alexander McQueen.
But down to the important part of the event, who was there and what were they wearing?!  Here are a few of my favourites..
Rachel Zoe
Because she is my queen, I must start my fashion report with her! Rachel Zoe looked gorgeous and fashionable, as always in a Marc Jacobs blue sparkly dress! Just love her!
Anna Wintour
It wouldn't be the fashion awards without the queen of the fashion world, Anna Wintour. Love this classic and elegant number!
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
From little sitcom stars to Fashionistas, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are one of a kind. I've always been a huge fan and they are featured here in their very own collection 'Row'.
Whitney Port
Whitney looks gorgeous as always in this David Meister gown. Not the type of gown that would suit everyone, but of course if someone can pull it off, it's Whitney!
Gwyneth Paltrow with Michael Kors
Designer Michael Kors with Gwyneth Paltrow wearing yes a Michael Kors Gown. She looks stunning in this sparkly elegant number. And Michael Kors doesn't look too bad himself!
Dakota Fanning
This is one of my favourite dresses of the day. It's pretty, feminine and Marchesa of course! Also love the Jen Behr headpiece, really compliments the dress.
Model Jessica Stam
One of my favourite models Jessica Stam wearing this simple, yet elegant number by Giambattista Valli.
Model Constance Jablonski with designers Ken Kaufman and Issac Franco
Another one of my favourite models Constance Jablonski seen here with designers Ken Kaufman and Issac Franco and of course wearing this pretty, glamorous and cute piece from their collection Kaufman Franco.
Ed Westwick
Any excuse for a little Chuck Bass will do! I think this ensemble is flawless. I love how he has made the suit look rough and edgy with the shirt unbuttoned and the sunnies, complimented with his rugged facial appearance.
Diane Von Furstenberg
Love designer Diane Von Furstenberg and here she is gracing the awards in one of her own numbers. I think it really suits her.
Sarah Jessica Parker
Sarah Jessica Parker in an Alexander McQueen gown.  The print looks stunning and she looks amazing.
Alexis Bledal with designer Behnaz Sarafpour
This is one of my favourite dresses by Behnaz Sarafpour and who better to wear it than Alexis Bledal.  Love the silhouette, fabric, metallic colour and accessories.  She looks stunning and gorgeous!
Doutzen Kroes
This Michael Kors number is so elegant, classic and gorgeous and looks amazing on model Doutzen Kroes.  Michael Kors' silhouettes are always really flattering.
Gaby Karen de Felice and Donna Karen
Both in Donna Karen of course!  Love the colour palette and the elegant and flattering drapery.
Hana Soukupova
Any excuse for more Marchesa!  I absolutely love this dress.  It's cute and feminine and even has a bow, but at the same time has the little edge channelling the cut out trend.  And love those shoes.
Marc Jacobs
Because he is the womenswear designer of the year I had to include him!!
