The 15th Annual Rosemount Australian Fashion Week has begun! In other words, the whole Australian fashion industry watches in anticipation as the new trends for Spring/Summer 2010/11 grace the runways! The week was blessed as the opening collection was by Lisa Ho. As the opening show, the expectations were high and I think it was amazing! Lisa Ho is one of my favourite designers and she definitely did not disappoint. The collection started with a classic nude colour number and it just kept on coming!..... Pastels including lilac and teal, compliment with prints, flowy maxi dresses, high waisted pants and bold statement piece jewellery.
The Ginger and Smart collection...... I honestly cannot take my eyes of this collection at the moment. I'm not normally a huge Ginger and Smart follower, but I really admire this collection! It's so delicate with ruffles, colours of lilac and nudes, with classic numbers. But it also contains a hint of prints for that unexpected twist to the collection. (Ginger and Smart's signature) I have my eye on many numbers from this collection and I don't know which numbers to post on my blog! One trend I noticed in both the Lisa Ho and Ginger and Smart collections were the nude shoes. I am so glad a just bought a new pair of nude pumps because it seems like a big trend this upcoming season!
The stand out feature of Zambesi Collection according to Vogue Australia were the tattooed male models! What would seem odd for a runway show was actually completely perfect. The collection was kind of dark and gothic, mesh and leather. It frequently used the colour black which was occasionally complimented with the colour nude.
The first swimsuit collection featured at fashion week was Seventh Wonderland. A collection of floral prints, lace up detailing, and the use of black, teal, mushroom and purple.
Day 1 also included collections by Camilla, Aurelio Costarella, Bec and Bridge, and Rachel Gilbert which will be featured in my upcoming post.
What will day 2 of fashion week feature? The morning shows will feature two of my favourite designers. Zimmermann and Camilla and Marc!!!!! If you think it's over then, well the day has only just begun. Other stand out designers of the day include Nicola Finetti, Fredrich Gray, Ellery and the highly anticipated Alex Perry Show! The Alex Perry show is set to have 1000 VIP guests! What makes this show even more fascinating is that Alex Perry is joining forces with make-up artist Napolean Perdis and hairstylist Renya Xydis. Alex Perry claims that Greeks know glamour and I think they are about to show the Australian Fashion Industry what they mean!
Rosemount Fashion Week must see events: This includes Camilla and Marc, Alex Perry, Ellery, Ksubi and wait for it, Romance was Born and Dion Lee and lucky for me I'll be working at both! I got a feeling it's going to be a week to remember!
